About This Website

How this website was created and how you can help make it better

Our Philosophy

A Living Document Approach

This website is designed to evolve. We update content regularly based on community feedback and changing needs. AI moves fast. Our guidance and resources should too. This approach lets us keep information current and useful for the UM community.

How This Website Was Created

Foundation

Technical Foundation

UM IT built the technical infrastructure and architecture that powers this site, handling everything from server configuration to security protocols, ensuring a robust and accessible platform.

Strategy

Human-Led Strategy

The FUTURE project gathered information and UM community input to help define the vision and principles. We engaged with UM experts to provide knowledge and context. Humans made final decisions on all content and messaging.

Enhancement

AI-Enhanced Creation

Amplify (UM's Flagship AI Platform) helped draft initial content based on human-provided frameworks and guidelines.

Governance

Human Oversight

All decisions, content direction, and final approval remained with human input. AI was used as a drafting tool, not for decision-making.

Our Human-Centered AI Commitment

This website shows our dedication to human-centered AI. We prioritize transparency, keep humans in control of all decisions, and focus on benefiting the community above all else.

Transparency First

Complete openness about how and where AI tools are used

Human Control

All significant decisions remained with human experts

Community Benefit

Efficiency gains focused on serving our users' needs

Our Commitment to You

This community page represents more than transparency: it's a promise. We commit to ongoing evolution, responsive feedback, maintained quality, and open communication about changes and improvements. Thank you for being part of this approach. Together, we're creating something that truly serves our community's needs while modeling responsible AI use.

What AI Did NOT Do: Make strategic decisions about priorities or values, determine university policies or positions, create content without human oversight and approval, or replace human expertise and judgment in any capacity.

Future Vision: This page will evolve to showcase community-suggested improvements, examples of how user feedback shaped content, and recognition of community contributors (with permission). We're building something together.
